Excuse Poems

What do excuses have to do with hidden curriculum? What role do they play in everyday life in school? The group of students worked on the phenomenon of excuses, and studied their relevance in school. An excuse performs a reason or explanation to justify a fault or offence. Whether true or not, they seem do go against and follow rules at the same time. When do we accept an excuse? When do we find them offensive? The students collected excuses, looked closely at their language, and transposed them: excuse poems of everyday life. (This workshop took inspiration of the very first Hidden Curriculum iteration, see cover of HC publication 2008).
